Snapshot of the fiction-assistance plugin in its original Universalis- specific form before generalization. Adds the missing plugin.json manifest (subdirectory command paths explicitly listed), moves the two stray root-level review files into their proper homes (review-all.md into the reviewing-fiction skill, review-final.md as a command with frontmatter), and registers the plugin in the marketplace. Preserved here so the original card-generation and vault-maintenance commands remain recoverable when the plugin is reduced to a portable guidance-and-analysis subset in the next commit. | Incremental updates for changed chapters and index maintenance | Bash, Edit(40 - Generated/**), MultiEdit(40 - Generated/**), Write(40 - Generated/**) |
You are performing incremental updates on a science fiction novel's writer's cards, processing only changed content and maintaining the master index.
Objectives:
- Identify changed chapters since last run using git timestamps
- Update only affected cards based on changed content
- Create/maintain master index at
Notes/index.md - Optimize for speed - skip unchanged content
Process:
1. Identify Changed Files
Use git to find chapters modified since last update:
git log --name-only --since="24 hours ago" --pretty=format: "00 - Manuscript/" | sort | uniq
If no recent changes, check for any unstaged changes:
git status --porcelain "00 - Manuscript/"
2. Smart Card Updates
For each changed chapter file:
- Characters: Update cards for characters mentioned in changed scenes
- Locations: Update cards for locations in changed scenes
- Ships: Update cards for ships mentioned in changed scenes
- Technology: Update cards for technology referenced in changed scenes
- Species: Update cards for species mentioned in changed scenes
- Events: Update cards for events occurring in changed scenes
- Plotlines: Update cards for plotlines advanced in changed scenes
- Themes: Update cards for themes explored in changed scenes
- Conflicts: Update cards for conflicts developed in changed scenes
3. Update Cross-References
Run targeted link updates only for:
- Cards updated in step 2
- Cards that reference the updated cards
4. Create/Update Master Index

5. Performance Optimization
- Skip processing if no chapters have changed
- Only scan entities actually mentioned in changed chapters
- Use efficient file operations (MultiEdit when possible)
- Cache entity lists to avoid redundant scanning
File Processing Strategy:
- Quick scan changed chapters for entity mentions
- Targeted updates only for entities found in changed content
- Smart linking only update links involving changed entities
- Index refresh with current counts and recent activity
Output:
- Updated cards for entities in changed chapters only
- Refreshed cross-references for updated cards
- Current master index with stats and navigation
- Minimal processing time for daily writing workflow
IMPORTANT: Process incrementally - don't regenerate everything unless specifically requested. Focus on speed and efficiency for daily writing sessions.
